Character
The character you play as does not matter in this map, with only some small differences in animation lenghts at the start.
Early game
In the early game you're grabbing the boat parts, taking the boat to the island and making progress towards your distance kills.
Start the match by grabbing the spiked bat at the top of the stairs. Holding a melee weapon gives a slight movement speed buff and will therefore be held every time you run distances.
Round 1
Get to the caves as fast as possible. Grab the boat part in the mess hall, the RPR evo on the wall and activate your camp owl distance kills challenge on your way. It is best not to kill any zombies on your way just yet. Exit the caves towards the Rave area. If you exit the caves before the respawn interval at ~50 seconds, you will get good spawns within the rave area. Activate your Twist of Fate to help you end the round. Grab the boat part and the Type-2 and make your way towards the power switch. Kill any zombies you see spawned in and make sure they are distance kills. You are relying on your twist to kill the zombies you don't see. Round 1 should be done before you exit the basement.
Round 2
Go up and grab your final boat part in the room with jug, and then make your way over to the docks. Once again, kill all the zombies you see spawned in, including the ones inside of the barriers. The more zombies you leave alive on your path, the more uncertain it is that your twist will kill them. Make sure to end round 2 before you get on the boat. Activate evade only after you've ended round 2.
Round 3
You'll be ending this round preferably on the island. Even though your distance kills are going to be complete before the end of the round, you want to proceed to round 4 as early as possible for good spawns during the rituals. Talk to Kevin before taking the zipline back to the main map. If you don't get the final zombie to spawn on the island, or it is taking too long, you can leave the island before the round ends, but you'll have to find it on the next part.
Mid game (rituals)
After the zipline, you'll be running to the first picture at the Rave area. On your way, replace your RPR evo with the reaver shotgun wallweapon on the docks, and grab your transponder. Try to minimize the amount of zombies killed while running around from this point on. After acquiring the picture, go to the big bonfire for the first ritual.
Arm ritual
We're starting off with the most difficult ritual to complete fast consistently. It is important to have a solid amount of zombies spawned in before you start the ritual, but you also don't want to wait too long. As soon as you start the ritual, there is a period of around 8-10 seconds in which the souls will not count yet (indicated by the arms moving into the ground). So make sure you group up the zombies in this period and start shooting when it is ready and you are safely at a distance from the group. Use the Type-2 (not dual-wield) for this part, as it deals low damage. Aim into the hoard at arm height and start bursting bullets into their arms. Holding down the trigger is not needed, because you're not going for fast kills here, you're going for arms. Keep this up until your hoard of sprinters is dead. It is very likely that you do not have the required 10 arms after this hectic group. Use the slower spawning and slower walking zombies to finish off the ritual. Practice taking off two arms from a single zombie, as this will really help with the final souls. When you're done, use your dual wield Type-2 to take down the slasher. He only takes damage after you are thrown out of rave mode. Run off as soon as you inspect the light on the ground, the HUD pop-up comes a couple seconds after.
Go back to the island using the boat to talk to Kevin. Throw your transponder on the ground besides or inside of the cabin and use your Escape Route to teleport away. Escape routes are consistent in this game. For this map on solo specifically, you will land either outside of the mess hall or at the big bonfire. Make your way to the second picture and take the zipline over to the Rave area.
Leg ritual
This ritual should be consistently fast. Just as with the arm ritual, activate the ritual as soon as you have some zombies spawning/spawned in. Train up the zombies and get some distance between you and the zombies in the ~10 seconds cooldown. You will be using the reaver you bought earlier to shoot off legs. Aim just below the feet of the zombies to avoid any shots hitting the lower torso (ADS is not needed). Kill the slasher, inspect the item and use your transponder.
You will now be back at the cabin. Talk to Kevin and take the zipline. Make your way to the basement to grab the skull and the Smiley. If you replace your reaver, the Smiley will be your mule munchies weapon. Run to the docks for the final ritual.
Note: If you are worried about taking a down in the bossfight, there is an easy way to avoid the Smiley becoming your 3rd weapon. Simply replace your spiked bat for the Smiley and then replace your reaver with the machete, which is found on your way to the docks.
Head ritual
Similar story as the previous ones. Get some spawns, start the ritual, train up and start shooting after 10 seconds have passed. Use your Type-2 (not dual wield) to get headshots. Evading into zombies can also get you headshots, but it is much less consistent. Kill the slasher, inspect the item, run to the basement to the activate the button and then run back to the docks to get on the boat.
Bossfight
Soul box phases
You need to fill up the two skulls, which both require exactly 30 kills to fill. Finish the first before starting the next. It is helpful to keep your eyes on the scoreboard to see exactly when you can run off to the next one. You will mostly be using your Smiley's (alt fire) melee ability to kill zombies, though other options include using evades or ground pounding (press melee whilst mid-air in rave mode). Your explosive touch is to be used whenever things get too hectic at any point, as taking a down is a significant time loss, or a game ender if your Smiley is your mule munchies weapon. Don't train up zombies, just kill them as soon as they enter the radius of the soul box. Max ammos are plentiful, so pick them up whenever you run by the stairs.
After filling up the two skulls to capacity, manouvre the super slasher into the circle and damage him using a Smiley shot explosion or by shooting his belly with the Type-2. If the circle is far away, it can be helpful to bait out a jump attack when you're standing in the circle. He will only jump when he has a clear line of sight towards you (and he's not too close). The circle has three possible locations: it can go to either of the 2 skull locations, or into the middle of the arena. These locations do not repeat. You can use this fact to plan out where to start your next soul box phases: You want your final skull to be close to where the circle is going to spawn in.
Note: zombies will stop spawning as soon as the circle spawns in, unless the final zombie is killed. For the next phase, it is helpful to not have to worry about zombies. This is why you preferably want to keep one or two zombies alive. Use a dual wield Type-2 shot at their legs to turn them into crawlers. If the zombie dies at any point, a new wave of zombies will spawn in a couple seconds after.
Symbol phases
Damaging the slasher in the circle will start the symbol phase (after an animation from the slasher). 8 symbols will have to be destroyed on the Slasher's body. After destroying a symbol, it will take the next symbol exactly 5 seconds to spawn in. Your explosive Smiley shots instantly break the symbols when they explode. The saws explode exactly 2 seconds after they leave the weapon. Use these timings to pre-shoot saws into the slasher: Shoot a saw into the slasher 3 seconds after the previous symbol is broken. Timing this perfectly every time is difficult, so shoot two saws back-to-back to make sure the symbols break, in case the first saw misses.
For the first two symbol phases, make sure to keep count of how many symbols you've broken, because as soon as the 8th symbol is broken, you want the Slasher to be standing on the spot where he jumps up to the cabin. This minimizes the time spent waiting for the slasher to walk to the right spot. The next soul box phase will start after the ~30 seconds circle defend.
The third symbol phase will proceed into the final showdown with the slasher. This is where you use your final card, twice the pain. The dual wield Type-2 will make quick work of this phase. The soul key will appear on the ground where the slasher died, around 28 seconds after he's killed.
Alternative strategies
- If you do not have the Type-2 butcher variant, the routing is the same but the set-up and weapons are different. Run scratch post instead of Twice the pain as your final card. You will be using the Smiley to kill the slasher after each ritual. Replace your RPR evo with the Smiley when you turn on the power switch. You can still use the Type-2 for shooting off arms. Replace your Type-2 with the banshee on your way to the leg ritual and use that for shooting off legs. Replace the banshee for the erad next to the head ritual and use that for headshots. At the very end of the bossfight, pop scratch post and use that to take down the super slasher.
- If you are not comfortable with staying alive in the bossfight, you can use reanimated instead of twice the pain in the fight. Pop reanimated as soon as you can in the fight. Reanimated will avoid you having to go to the afterlife arcade when you take your first down and it will allow you to take a second down without the run ending.
RNG
This map has the lowest amount of RNG out of all the IW maps. Where it does play a role is:
- Zombie spawns on round 1, 2 and 3 and whether twist is in the mood to kill zombies.
- Zombie spawns before and during the rituals.
- Bossfight circle locations. The optimal order depends on where you start but is 1/3 * 1/2 = ~17%
