Combating Carrier Zombie Types

Advanced Warfare Carrier High Rounds General Information
Last updated: August 9, 2026 Original Contributor(s): Plasmid Jeff

Carrier carries over Outbreak zombies, copying similar ambush rounds to Outbreak with Security Dogs and Hosts. Some Infection zombies like Spikers and Meatbags are carried over, with Oozers being left behind and Goliaths get a new variant. Carrier introduces only one new zombie (and dog variant). The amount of variants alive start to grow on this map, as more of each variant occasionally dropping in. A Spiker could appear to ruin camping somewhere, or Blinker zombies teleporting right behind you and hitting you, etc. While zombies are not a massive hinderance, you can face a new type of enemy AI: Atlas Soldiers. The soldiers can hail in comparison to your punishment for not combating Atlas as you survive, an Armored Goliath zombie.

Blinker Zombies

Blinker Zombies are exo zombies with teleporting capabilities. Similar to the Teleport Grenades, these zombies can move around the map quickly, teleporting as they run to move in on the player quickly. On their own, they are fairly tame, as they are so fast, the rest of the horde struggle to keep up and crowd the player fast enough. They appear more as general annoyance as you move around. They often avoid any ledge, so they can jump ahead of the horde trying to path to the player through various drop downs and ledges.

Armored Goliaths

While behaving similar to the original Goliath zombie, this new variant has some stronger moves that only adds to already powerful moves these mini-bosses have. The two major changes are effects added from other variants: EMP triggers and teleporting. Armored Goliaths can detect local exo movement from the player, shutting suits down like EMZs. On top of this, they can teleport like Blinkers, having no issue to keep up or find players. This ability alone lets the Armored Goliath find a player from halfway across the map in a few seconds, especially when ledges are along the path.

Atlas Soldiers

Atlas Soldiers are foot soldiers powered with Exo movement. Unlike Exo Zombies, Atlas Soldiers will position themselves and focus fire on any player in sight, usually focusing one player. They are completely invisible to zombies, but they can killed with the environment like traps or falling out of the map.

Once you start entering round 40 and above, health increases become more noticeable, despite upgrading weapons. Teleport Grenades become a powerful option in shutting down Atlas Soldiers. While being much more nimble, a well timed telefrag can impact soldiers, instantly killing them. This is a skill, and you are best practicing lining up your Teleport Grenades more, whether its for movement or for fighting soldiers.

Additionally, in the Descent Easter Egg, during the Friendly Fire Challenge, you will encounter AI soldiers based on the other characters in solo. They can behave very similar, but not as nearly aggressive. Trident or Blunderbuss are strongest to killing them if they are nearby. Otherwise, keep your distance from any of the soldiers.

Goliath Soldiers

In higher rounds, a soldier wearing XS1 Goliath armor will replace one of the possible Atlas Soldiers permanently. While they may seem powerful, they are restricted to moving everywhere by foot. They are the easiest target to kill first, especially using Teleport Grenades. Impact of a Teleport Grenade (and no enemy Trophy System activates) will instantly kill them. The camo drop from killing this soldier gives you time to set up telefragging any more Atlas Soldiers. Chain your camo drops and you can defuse Bombs easily.
